Wedding School!
Wow, what a night. Worked from 8-4 today (Tuesday) in the office, then busted my gut to get to Wollongong for a 6:30pm class at wedding school.
On the way down, I had time to spare so I did two things. Grabbed a Cheeseburger at McDonalds ( that is not a plug for Maccas, it is merely a lazy fact ). The second thing is call into a family that I hold very dear to my heart. The Erickson family - My second Mum, Coral and my Groomsman, Paul. It was nice to drop in and surprise them on a weeknight. I was only there for ten minutes, hydrated myself with some water and moved on to Wedding School.
Wedding School is my nickname for it. However - it is a 'Marriage Preparation Course'. It is compulsory for those that want to get married in the Catholic Church. My sister's - Emma and Rachel did the course when they got married in '98 and '92. I know they got alot out of it and other people I know that did rate it hard.
It is put on by Centacare and is totally treated independant to the Catholic Church. There was no mention during the time that we were there (6:30 - 9:30pm) of religion, priests, or the Church. This was definately important in earning most couple's trust on the course. 12 couples in all, Lyn and her husband took the course. They are old bugger and have been married happily for about 30 years. He is the fleet manager at Dwyer's Holden and Lyn is the canteen manager at St. Joseph's High School, Albion Park.
Quyen and I were both stuffed cucumbers afterward due to working and rushing down from Sydney - however, the course was bloody fantastic. I can not recomment it highly enough. We discussed many things such as conflict resolution, and dealing with marriage and living together and the importance of working things out, just to name a few topics. Fantastic!
Three hours tonight. It will be seven hours on this coming Saturday.... 9:30am to 4:30pm. but, hey, Quyen and I are looking forward to it immensely! yeee haaaa!!!
